Why it takes 9 days to give up on your Resolution

Happy 2014 everyone!!!

new year resolution

How is it going for you so far?

I was doing some research for my ministry blog and discovered that:

  • most people give up on there New Year resolution by the 9th of January
  • and that only 8% of people actually keep their New Year resolution up until the 31st of December – whooh – hard work!

And it got me thinking, what separates someone who is able to stick to their New Year resolution or any type of resolution from someone who isn’t? Continue reading Why it takes 9 days to give up on your Resolution

Why praying for breakthrough may not be enough to actually BREAK THROUGH!!!

If you are anything like me there have been times when you have prayed and prayed for something, deliverance or salvation in one area of your life but no matter how hard you pray nothing seems to be happening!

praying woman
Why is that?

I know that God has His own timing and that we are often placed in such situations to refine us, but that last point IS the key I believe to the answer.

This week I want to share a video with you, which will explain just what I believe one of the BIGGEST yet most OVERLOOKED reasons to a delayed breakthrough.

I would love to hear what you think, as this thought has been slowly gaining momentum in my mind for a while now.

So after watching the video, click on the link below it and I will see you on the other side.

Finished watching the video?  OK, click this link to find out more.

Keep Holding on to His Word

When I wrote last Monday’s blog post entitled “Your Exceeding Great Reward”, I was unaware at how much God would use it to bless and encourage so many people.  The words of the post resonated deeply with many people showing me that regardless of where we may live in the world that our fellow brothers and sisters are going through very similar struggles.  Does it remind you of anything?

How about the words of Peter:

AV 1Pt 5:9 … knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

It must be the season…

Funnily enough, I have found that it’s around this time that you tend to find many Believers becoming more disheartened and faint-heartened.  Why?  Because the year is drawing to an end and maybe what we have dreamed, hoped for or even worked for hasn’t yet come to pass.

Each year many of us start off with hopes, dreams and New Year resolutions, when they seem not to be coming into fruition then this generally leads us into a place of despair, frustration, anxiety, stress, disillusionment etc.

Even if we haven’t set ourselves our own goals to accomplish maybe we have heard or been given a word from YHWH and we are still yet to see it come to pass and as the year draws to an end we have become weary, agitated and begin to loosen our hold on His Word.

Peter gave us advice when in such a situation, he said:

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.  Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. (1 Peter 5:6-10, ESV)

We are told to:

  1. Humble ourselves under His hand – this can be really difficult to do but what we go through is not in vain.
  2. Be aware of the tactics of the enemy particularly in such times as this.
  3. Recognise that you are not alone and find others who can encourage, empower, equip, edify and pray for you.  And vice-versa.
  4. Be ready to be transformed!

I actually prefer the words of the KJV of verse 10 which says that Elohim will make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.  – ie He will complete you, make you whole, restore you by doing what it takes to get you to that place.

Dear brother/sister, it is not an easy road but there is HOPE not the vague secular kind but the firm confidence and assurance we have in God through the Messiah.  We have an exceeding great reward and that is the Hope of Glory starting and manifesting here, yes even here on Earth and culminating in being fully perfected and complete in eternity.  And do you know what, I can feel it happening already, I can feel it in the air and I know that YHWH is about to do some great healing and transformation in the lives of His people – halleluYAH.  A dear sister also has been feeling the same thing, I read her own encouraging post last week and was so touched and blessed by it.  She says the following:

We are entering into a spiritual “new season.” Many of you have been in a type of “wilderness” season. Do you discern the changes? Transition and change are in the horizon. Don’t look to the things of the past but move forward into the new season. Forget what lies behind you. A new day is emerging. Go with the flow of the Holy Spirit, He will lead you and guide you during this transition time.

You can find the rest of her encouraging post here.

The fresh wind of the Ruach is moving, He cannot be stopped, ready to breathe upon those whose hearts and minds are already attuned towards Him – let us not miss Him as He passes us by.

This week, I want to share something really special with you.  Two weeks ago my dear hubby was invited to speak in our congregation, I am truly not being biased when I said that it was a powerful, much needed Word of encouragement and empowerment for everyone who was there.

It gives me so much pleasure to share this timely teaching with you my online Brothers and Sisters, it encourages us once again to go back to the Word of God and use it as our anchor.  Unfortunately the recording was cut short so it does not go on to the end but I pray what you hear will bless you anyway wherever you are today.

So grab your Bible, notebook, pen etc and settle down to be ministered to.

Be blessed as you listen to this teaching and feel free to contact me or post any comments or questions.

Why am I struggling to Forgive?

Have you ever asked yourself that question?  I have and so have many people if they are honest with themselves.

The last few weeks have been trying for me, I lost my uncle and my dad had his appendix removed and during this time I was challenged by the behaviour of someone very close to me who knew what I had been going through but still acted very badly towards me. A Revelation on Light in the Bible

In my previous post, I introduced the concept and topic of light in the Bible, with this post I would like to go a bit further into what God has been teaching me about light and in particular Divine Light.

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

1 John 1:5 (ESV)

John thought that this message was so news-worthy that he specifically decided to proclaim/declare it so that we might know this to be the truth, God is light and there is no darkness in Him at all.  What does this message mean to you?  In my last post I spoke a bit concerning a dream that I had relating to light and healing, the individual in my dream had a ministry of light and healing and he shared some of the revelation concerning the connection between light and healing on my blog.  In my physical self I could not understand a single word that he wrote, I saw the writing and read it but it was as if I was reading a totally different language which I couldn’t comprehend in my mortal flesh.  When I awoke I knew that God (Elohim) wants us to receive light.

What does the Bible say about Light

Did you know that the word light occurs in the Bible 272 times in 235 verses in the KJV?  From,”let there be light” in Genesis 1: 3 to “the LORD (YHVH) gives them light” in Revelation 22: 5 and smack in the middle we have the following scripture:

Your sun shall no more go down; neither shall your moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended.

Isaiah 60: 20

There is something about light that is supernatural (outside of nature/natural realm as we know it) but nevertheless, I feel that God wants us if not to fully understand its significance to begin to grasp it at least (He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him – Daniel 2: 22).  For those who will seek for the mystery of light, I fully believe that there is a gift that brings healing and restoration (James 1: 17).

Soaring like the Eagle

This is the second part of my as yet unpublished book on experiencing Biblical Wholeness, you can read the first part here

eagle-and-a-yellow-decline-a-soaring-eagle-above-oceanA journey of healing that leads to freedom

As a Psychology teacher, teaching the psychology of stress was an important part of the curriculum.  I taught my students about the stress response, the causes of stress and how to manage it;  I even  joked that teachers have one of the shortest post-retirement death rates but I never stopped to examine my own experiences of stress until YAH gave me a wakeup call.

I can’t remember when it first started but gradually I began to notice that my general health was declining.  I seemed to be constantly falling ill;from colds and flu that made me take days off from work to being tired, agitated, angry and forgetting things, I began to notice that I was not ‘myself’ at all.   I cannot forget one incident where I even had to be carried away by ambulance men in the middle of the teaching day because I had somehow managed to sprain my back.  I was in the middle of class and I turned to write a note on the board and as I stretched upwards I froze in excruciating pain.

I could hardly move.

I turned myself just enough to look at my students quietly getting on with their work and said in a very calm voice:

“I’ve just hurt my back can someone go and get a first-aider!”

And guess what their reply was?

“Miss is this a psychology test?”

At that point my calm slipped a little, I guess it was the fear that I wouldn’t be  taken seriously, so through slightly gritted teeth I said:

“no, this is not a test I really am in pain, can someone go and get a first aider PLEEEEASE!”  and off they went.

That was me through and through, I was queen of calm back then and I thought it was a good thing but now I realise that it was  faulty coping strategy which actually cost me my health!  This was yet another example of continuously pushing my body and striving for perfection which negatively impacted on my well-being!  After a while, I began to experience muscle fasciculations and pain across my body, I didn’t realise it then but my body was talking to me telling me to stop and rest; unfortunately I didn’t listen. What does it mean to ‘have life’?

NB: This is the second post in this series, you should read part one to fully understand what I am sharing here today.

Life is a gift from YAH, He specifically made a choice to breathe His Divine breath into us therefore all human life is sacred, it is not be stolen or destroyed. But more than this, it is Yah’s will for us to possess something much more greater than this transient gift of life. It is His will that we possess something more greater, fuller and eternal than anything we could ever imagine.

Believers ‘have life’ because Yahushua gave us His life, yet most of us don’t know the life that we now possess and so live as if we do not have it at all. In the previous post I mentioned how our life orientation can be used as a gauge to assess whether we ‘have life’ or not and how much of it we have. Struck down, but not destroyed (part 1)

What does it mean to be ‘un’destroyed?

Well, when I thought about how to describe or define this term the following scripture popped up in my head which I think aptly explains what I mean.

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

(2 Corinthians 4:8-9 ESV)

These verses illustrate pain and courage, the apostles suffered affliction everywhere they turned and I can see this most clearly in the Book of ActsThey were thrown into jail, stoned, beaten, ridiculed and more but this never stopped them from pressing on in their work.  The reality of what they were facing could have distressed them and made them feel like they were being hemmed in but they didn’t allow the suffering they experienced to stifle their zeal.  They couldn’t fully comprehend why they were facing so much tribulation, their experiences left them feeling perplexed but even in the midst of mounting uncertainty they still had hope that there was a way out.  At times it seems that people went out of their way to hound them, shut them up and destroy them but even in the midst of this God never left them to the whims of their enemies, He never gave them up to destruction.
